Is there anyway to help fight the pain of deteriorated disk disease?
Question by paulbunyan217: Is there anyway to help fight the pain of deteriorated disk disease?
I have a deteriorated disk in my lower back, and lately it’s been hurting all the time, and the pain can shoot down to my knees, and can cause constipation. Is there anything I can do to help it? Sometimes it doesn’t hurt at all, sometimes the pain is minimal, and other times it can be agony. Lately it’s been agony, and is there any trick to managing the pain?

first of all, your constipation is not caused by your low back, but the other way around…if you are already on pain meds, this could be contributing to your constipation, & you either need to get stool softeners from your doc, or supply yourself with something that will counter the constipation..water does a good job!! learning body mechanics is the BEST thing you can do, simply because NOONE uses their back in proper form..cold packs help too, esp if you are getting radiating pains through your legs…other than that, gotta talk to your doc..but don’t snuff the body mechanics..that’s the main problem here….

Question by Mom of three A.R.T.: Knee injury help, appreciate any answers from physical therapist students or coaches?
My son plays football and he got “scissored”. We took him to the Dr’.s and he’s not torn or bruised his ACL but his knee is still sore. Does anyone have any knee exercise to help strengthen his knee? He loves playing football and is major bumming because he’s side lined.
Thanks so much.
Have a great day.

It would be negligent of anyone to prescribe any specific exercises without first examining your son. Time will be an important factor in this type of injury.
